Later that morning when I arrived at the studio my tutor greeted me with "Happy Ascension Day John". Important events often have this synchronicity. I felt this dream was important, though no ready interpretation was available, the wonder of the dream and its meaning gave me something to ponder in the time ahead. I had this dream in 2002.
The dream stayed with its questions, gently pulling me towards a decision to make the form. The choice of stone was important, as it needed to capture and reflect the energy source of the form. I finally chose "Persian Red Travertine" from Iran with its deep terracotta colour similar to the stone with its energy in the dream.
After much searching I made contact with a company in Iran who were able to supply the block with cut bases and airfreight to England, at some expense! I made the sculpture outside at the Hoathly Hill studios in Sussex. > > >
