I had difficulty finding marble cut to the size I required - 2.8m x 1.8m x 0.8m and weighing twelve tonnes. Eventually I found and settled for a crystalline marble from the north of Greece called "Phoenix". The block was rough cut out of the quarry and delivered by truck to Alonissos. It took me nine months to find and have the block delivered, and just under a year to sculpt into the form you see here at Isomita where I did the carving.
